Nine Illegal Cambodian Border Hoppers Temporarily Detained in Battambang

Battambang: Nine Cambodians who intended to cross the border illegally into Thailand have been apprehended after being approached and questioned by border security forces in O’lvea village in the Chrey Seima commune of Battambang’s Sampov Loun district.

Authorities at the border say all nine, including three women and four persons with disabilities, were trying to cross the border into Thailand when they were intercepted by a police patrol when they couldn’t cross a flooded stream. They were waiting for the water to recede. All of them were temporarily detained. After signing a contract promising not to try crossing the border again, they were sent back home.
